troops gathered along the ukrainian border. now, a senior administration official today is calling this a moment of crisis, saying it will take a high level of engagement between president biden and putin to address this and find a path of desquealation. this will be the second call that these two men have had this month. tomorrow, president biden is expected to tell putin that tensions must be ratcheted down, and that for that to happen, russia must pull back its troops. if russia does invade, the white house says the consequences will be severe, including punishing economic sanctions, additional military assistance to ukraine, and bolstering nato allies in the region. but there are no plans for u.s. troops on the ground. now, national security aides for president biden and president putin will continue these discussions in geneva on january 10 when they ll be meeting there. major. garrett: jan crawford for us tonight at the white house. thank you.

honored to meet with kim jong-un, after the talks in oslo took place in week between ex-u.s. government officials, and you have a president in south korea who also talked about talks with the north. and it seemed like things have ratcheted down, instead of the saber rattling. talking about diplomacy, as you mentioned, north korea also brought this week, saying they would be willing to have talks directly with the u.s. administration, this is according to the south korean news agency. so why would they fire this off if this is the case that they want to have talks? well, i think they want to both test president trump and president moon and skeeouth kor and talk from a position of strength, and show that they are going to proceed with this

and chris, what we ve seen here is that the supreme court has ratcheted down, they re going after the individual limit. it s why i proposed a constitutional amendment. i don t think there is another way to do this. we have to turn this back because the little guy who is at home goes why can t we get minimum wage? because we have to fight an industry that is fighting minimum wage. why can t we get a focus on jobs? because all of our republicans and democrats spending all their time raising money on the phone instead of legislating. this really does impact democracy. and the american public actually gets it. we don t like this system. we want it the money that s in there to be disclosed. but more than that, we want that money out of there. because we know that there is only a handful of people, 646 if that s the number, who really play this game. and it s not good for the american people. well, you make the point that democrats don t like to play the game, but that s the game. anyway

i should mention, here, overall estimates for a lot of the fortune 500 companies, and certainly 30 that make up the the dow jones industrial average is a member, has been ratcheted down, and that is a reason we wanted to pension that in keeping this in perspective this is better than expected but worse than what it was last year, in alcoa s case, dealing with weakening commoditieses and the mess in europe, and that crisis comes to mind so these are better-than-expected numbers from alcoa but do not race to the bank assuming we are firing on all cylinders, these are ratcheted down, so, we will keep you posted as other names come forward. not all of them. but the big ones. and before senator john mccain picked same bill kristol pushed her name. thing of the excitement.
