Artists stay busy, focused and hopeful the day before Christmas

SAN DIEGO    A blustery Christmas Eve kept some people away from Balboa Park Thursday afternoon, and while many of the 40 or so studios were closed, there were some artists working on their crafts at the Spanish Village Art Center. Just after lunchtime and before a light rain hit the colorful courtyard, glass blower Andy Cohn drew small crowds of people, mostly couples and one family with a toddler, who watched closely as she used one of her three kilns to heat up glass that she then shaped into a vase. The process can take about 45 minutes about 20 minutes less for her to create a glass cup, one of her other popular items.

To moscow, especially when the lgtb population is being discriminated against. it s very interesting. when we did it, we didn t know it was such a controversy. perhaps we should have known but we didn t. after we signed, it became quite controversial. andy cohn and a lot of people spoke against it and he s done a very good job doing what you re doing but they didn t come out exactly in favor. then we have as you also know we have a lot of gay people who worked at the miss universe pageant. we said, what do you think? they said we want to go and show our staff. what do you think of marriage equality and what your stance is and if you re evolving. i think i m evolving. i m a very poor person. i have been for traditional marriage. so when we re at that spectrum of evolving, where would you put yourself from one to ten. ten is fully evolved.
