Budget that has been worked on by the Congressional Black Caucus, which reduces the budget and creates millions of jobs in a fair and balanced way. Let me just close by talking about one final area, mr. Speaker, that we as members of this body need to stay focused on and thats jobs and growing the economy. In my home state of nevada, we still have a stubbornly high Unemployment Rate above the national average. Despite improvements in certain sectors, theres far too many nevadans who are still looking for work. Many who have been out of work for now more than a year, year and a half, going on two years, and i know its part of the budget debate that will occur between now and january 15, will be this discussion about extending unemployment benefits. Which is incredibly important to American Families who have been struggling during this sustained recession. And so i would challenge my colleagues on the other side, allow us to bring forward the number of jobs legislation and bills that wou
My own background gives me a clear look at the infrastructure and the nations ability to move its people and its information. We have, for the longest time, avoided taking steps that we need to take to strengthen our infrastructure. Steps that would not be driven by incremental expenditures by the broad population, but would be paid for by user fees. And until we get smart, to understand that if our infrastructure is not working well, no matter what part of it is, it drives down productivity, increases accident, and has a very negative effect on our society.
