quickly that you wouldn t necessarily pick it up, particularly radars basically reflecting off things. you could have some sort of object falling but with the bad weather and all kind of things happening at once. although it would be helpful to have had some indicator like that. by the way we still don t know exactly what exists out there in terms of radar tapes but not necessarily any indication that something nefarious happened t could have all just happened too quickly for us to at least with what we have right now at our fingertips to know what had happened. again debris has been found. it has not been confirmed to be debris from that aircraft. but another mystery in that part of the world. seth kaplan from airline weekly. thank you very much. jon. the los angeles police department declaring a citywide alert for all available officers to help search for a gunman. dozens of officers swarmed south l.a. where two people ambushed and fired a rifle at a patrol
where does the debris start? if the debris starts miles from where you re describing, then that shows that the airplane started coming apart back then. they re going to look at the radar tapes. they re going to determine the rate of descent of the aircraft. was it spiraling out of control? was it gliding? and you put all of these things together and pretty soon you have a very concrete understanding of what happened. now, you tie that fact to the missile launch, and you put in the intelligence data, and this thing will tell a story from start to finish. almost as if you were sitting there watching the whole thing happen in front of you. and what do you perceive that story to be? i mean you ve watched the video. you ve seen what we ve seen, the pictures coming from the crash site. you ve also seen the evidence that it came in from the radar systems where we immediately almost determined that it was a missile that shot it down. what do you think? i think what we re going to find is w

background and expertise, i am curious your theory of what happened to the plane and your criticisms, elaborate more on how the search has gone so far? start with when it first happen, after the airplane was declared missing, they immediately started a search in the area north. the malaysian government clearly knew from radar tapes that that airplane made a u-turn and that was not brought up for hours or days after the search was already underway. that is a problem. it is the turn, what caused the turn? was it done by human or effort or failure of the airplane? it had to be done by a human. failure of the airplane or a hijacking? we don t know at this point. but why the turn is made is crucial to the whole thing and the malaysian are not forth
like a mission impossible. you know, that s a great explanation or a great description of what they are up against. here s why. these two arcs they are working, this is the northern arc. it would go up somewhere in here. this is the southern arc that would go somewhere in here. they now know the countries all in this region, most of them anyway, have said there s no evidence that the plane came over their territory. they ve checked their radar tapes. they don t see it. which then brings us back to the southern region, down to the southern indian ocean. now australia is moving their assets. they are moving of ships and helicopters and some planes into the indian ocean to search for any signs of the wreckage of that plane. but it s now been ten days as you know. so and most, by the way, most u.s. sources we ve talked to do not believe that it is up here in the north. they do not see that. that means most likely, according to most experts, the plane headed to the south. headed to the
