From 1 September 2021, Young Farmers Club (YFC) members can join or remain a full member of NFYFC until they are 28, which means they can still compete at events and access all the benefits of membership. The motion to lift the age ceiling was proposed by Abbie Williams of Gwent YFC and seconded by Bryony Wilson of Montgomery YFC, and voted on at the federation’s annual general meeting on 29 April.

Only one in three members have renewed their Young Farmers’ Club (YFC) membership from last year. It is thought the lack of physical events, meetings and activities as a result of Covid-19 restrictions is behind the alarming drop-off. The National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) said it took prudent steps in 2020 to ensure it could stay afloat during the crisis and recover quickly when all activities could resume, so there was no immediate danger the organisation would  fold.

Rachel Goldie, 27, has been a member of Great Smeaton Young Farmers’ Club (YFC) for 15 years. She was elected as the Federation s new chairman during its first-ever online council elections. It s the first time in NFYFC s 90-year history that two generations of the same family have been elected to the position.
