From its founding in the midst of the Civil War, the Riverdale Presbyterian Church has witnessed the transformation of its northwest Bronx neighborhood. Once a patchwork of farms and summer cottages that was part of Yonkers, it is now a densely populated residential section of New York City.
Three of the men sentenced to 25 years for plotting to blow up two Riverdale synagogues in 2009 and shoot down military planes at a Newburgh airport as part of an FBI sting are being released by the same judge who issued the original sentence in 2011.
