Covid-19: Over 200 shopkeepers detained for violating SOPs in Quetta
People opened their shops and markets open despite the provincial and federal governments’ orders to keep all markets, shops and malls closed from May 8 to May 16.
Raids were conducted by the Frontier Corps and Ranger personnel. Multiple markets and bazaars in the city were cracked down, and shopkeepers were detained and fined.
“We will not tolerate any violations in the orders of the home department regarding the Eid holidays lockdown,” Quetta Deputy Commissioner Aurangzeb Badini said.
Check posts have been established at entry points of commercial areas and residents are advised to stay indoors. The police have been patrolling in these areas as well.

Quetta Deputy Commissioner Maj (retd) Aurangzeb Badini has ordered the police to arrest people not wearing masks and immediately register a case against them as well.
“Arrest those on the spot who do not wear masks and register a first information report against them,” he said while addressing a press conference over the weekend with District Health Officer Quetta Dr Zaman Jamali, Colonel Ghazanfar from Frontier Corps, Additional Commissioner Revenue Saqib Khan Kakar and others.

QUETTA: Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Langove has said that eliminating acts of terrorism and restoring peace in the province are top priorities of the government and all plots to destabilise the province would be foiled.
Presiding over a meeting held to review the law and order situation in the province on Thursday, Mr Langove said that tough action would be taken against all law-breakers.
He said no one would be allowed to stop development of Balochistan and elements trying to destablise the province and impede its fast development would be “crushed”.

Four people died and 12 others were injured in a blast that took place in the parking lot of a luxury hotel on the city’s Zarghun Road late on Wednesday.
Of the four who were killed in the attack, one is the hotel’s security guard while another is a police officer. Two assistant commissioners are said to be among the injured. Among the total injured persons, two are said to be in a critical state while the rest are reportedly stable, a private TV channel reported.
