Marathon swimmer Gubecka is Australia's first pick for Paris 2024

Open Water Swimmer Chelsea Gubecka Becomes First Australian Named To 2024 Olympic Team

Gubecka will contest the open water event in Paris after winning silver in the 10km race at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka.

Following, at Government House, Her Excellency hosted Rhodes Scholarship interviews, and announced the 2024 Rhodes Scholar Elect, Mr Jeremy Hunt. In the afternoon, at Government House, Her Excellency and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD hosted a reception in support of Queensland Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Governor addressed guests. In the evening, at Queensland Performing Arts Centre, South Brisbane, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo attended The Australian Ballet’s opening night performance of ‘Swan Lake’.
