for others, it was an entrenchment point on getting deeper into the conspiracy. yeah. absolutely. and i think that there are a lot of people who think that it s over. trump is no longer white house. q hasn t posted the anonymous poster hasn t posted for a year so people, a lot of people have forgotten about qanon, but it s still very much alive. they sort of sected off. we know there s one in dallas that s made the news lately. under charismatic leaders and it still exists and there are still tens of thousands of people that are entrenched in this conspiracy theory and we can see it because there s great places like a sub reddit for ex members that has a quarter of a million members. so it s still very much out there and it s important to tell these stories. we re so glad that you are and we re so glad you re sharing here with us here on msnbc. always great to have you on the show. thank you. thanks for watching this hour for all of you.
ron watkins, he runs the website where q posts. he said right after the election that he was not going to be involved in that website anymore. then he immediately shifted to election conspiracy sees, and those made their way to the president in the next two months. all of those q supporters were dragged to election conspiracy theories because their leader moved on to those new spaces. while q hasn t posted since december 7th, coming up on more than seven months now the influencers who pushed this movement moved on to stop the steal stuff and moved on to all of these other things that have become republican, gop, pro-trump orthodoxy. the troubling beliefs that this group currently holds, i mean you say this orthodoxy. describe some of them, some of the beliefs that they are holding now, how they have changed since previous theories about trump retaking office, of
significance that it was a sign that there was something afoot, that arrests were going to happen, that the storm was coming, they kind of the whole reason they pegged it on that was because cicadas emerge every 17 years and q is the 17th letter of the alphabet, therefore, it must be a sign. it s kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel at the moment, and that s because, as you said, q hasn t posted for six months. trump is still not in the white house. so, they re kind of left to their own devices, and the group that posted that kind of claim about the cicada is typically a pretty conservative group in terms of making more wild and extreme qanon claims, if you can be, if there can be such a thing as a conservative qanon group. but the fact that they were even pushing us and pushing it out to their 250,000 subscribers on telegram kind of indicates that qanon is in a real state of flux
