The political mudslinging over ginsburg s death and what is next. here to join us chad pergram who knows capitol hill like no other. the strategizing is starting on the right and the left. let me start with the democrats. democrats in the senate held a conference call to figure out what to do, they they would try to oppose this nominee. chuck schumer said anything is on the table, including possibly trying to eliminate a filibuster if democrats get in control of the senate next year. jerry nadler has proposed possibly expanding the size of the supreme court. democrats want to remind voters if there is a conservative justice put on the supreme court. they will try to undercut obamacare and roe versus wade.

Divided court. we have a liberal block, four justices all appointed by democratic presidents. ginsburg, sotomayor and kagan. and a conservative block, thomas, alito, gorsuch and kavanaugh. the last two by donald trump. chief justice roberts is a conservative, no question about it. he worked for george h.w. bush, put on the supreme court by george w. bush, a record of voting primarily conservative. he s unpredictable. most notably when obamacare, affordable care act came up in 2012, he shocked everybody by swinging over and vote with the liberal bloc which upheld it 5-4. he s been trending a little more to the left. he s very aware of his legacy. i think the chief justice does not want to be known as the chief justice who presided over the split of the court into strict ideological factions. the citizenship question on the census is coming up soon. supreme court weighing in on

Be a hearing. if that s the case, then obviously the vote will be delayed. what is the impact of that? where does mitch mcconnell stand on this? where does the chairman of the committee stand on it? you know, jim vandehei, most importantly for kavanaugh s fate, where do the women who identified themselves as pro choice women who were already having a hard time with this vote, where do they stand on providing a woman a hearing who i guess a better way to say it is how do they politically not stand in the way of a vote? how do they not demand a hearing for a woman who claims that she was afraid she was going to be killed by a judge who if he s put on the supreme court will be, of course, the deciding vote
