The 58-year-old is supporting National No Smoking Day today. “They always say that you are never too old to quit and this year I’ve finally done it, said Mrs Trachonitis. The pandemic has really made me think about my health and what is important. It’s been a tough year for everyone and I realised that with each lockdown I was drinking, eating and smoking more than usual because I was at home. Then at Christmas I found out that I was going to be a grandma for the first time and this was the push that I needed to quit.
Students across the country return to college on Monday, March 8. Hereford College of Arts, Herefordshire, Ludlow and North Shropshire College and Hereford Sixth Form College have collaborated to highlight how to stay safe during the pandemic, while putting students’ education first as part of a Play Your Part scheme. Several measures have been introduced to keep students safe, such as compulsory face coverings, sanitising stations, one-way systems, social distancing and regular Covid-19 testing. Acting director of Public Health in Herefordshire Dr Rebecca Howell-Jones said: “It’s important to remember the virus is still out there in our communities. And while the vaccination programme is being rolled out across the country, every social contact is an opportunity for Covid-19 to spread.
