Cause remains undetermined for fire at former White Lakes Mall

Authorities said a tip they received led them to arrest three people Wednesday in connection with the intentionally set fire that did an estimated $100,000 damage Tuesday morning at the former White Lakes Mall, 3600 S.W. Topeka Blvd. Topeka Fire Marshal Todd Harrison identified one of those taken into custody as Joel A. Sink, 18, of Topeka. He wasn t releasing the names, ages or genders of the other two people arrested, whom he said were juveniles. Each was taken into custody in connection with arson, criminal damage to property and criminal trespassing, Harrison said. Sink was booked at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday into the Shawnee County Jail, where he was being held Thursday without bond, according to jail records.
