The swoop by the NPA on former national commissioner Kgomotso Phahlane and other generals in SAPS Crime Intelligence is bound to stir up a vipers’ nest.
Former top cop Kgomotso Phahlane and high-ranking officers in the Crime Intelligence division were arrested in a series of raids – the fruit of an Investigating Directorate probe into a R54-million procurement scandal which has spanned years.
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has welcomed the prosecution of the four people who defrauded the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) of more than R2.8-million. Jan Mathebula, Solomon Mojela, Romeo Malope and Prudence Mohale appeared in the Pretoria Commercial Crimes Court on charges of fraud on Tuesday.
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) welcomes the arrest and subsequent prosecution of four individuals for allegedly colluding to defraud the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure of more than R2.8 million. On 24 May 2022, Jan Mathebula, Solomon Mojela, Romeo Malope and Prudence Mohale appeared in the Pretoria Commercial Crimes Court on charges of fraud. They were released on bail of R2 000 each and the matter was postponed to 17 June 2022, for further investigation.
