trying to do was have this kind of kumbaya mitch mcconnell who he has not said nice things about. during his appearance he sends mixed messages on who speaks for the party and who is setting the republican agenda. take a listen. we re not getting the job done. i m not going to blame myself. they are not getting the job done. i m not happy about it. a lot of people aren t happy. if you read the papers it s like i m on one island and they re on the other. it s not the way it is. just so you understand, the republican party is very unified. did anyone walk away from that press conference thinking that the republican party, in general, and the president and mitch mcconnell, specifically, are unified? no. i can t imagine anyone did.
