LGBTQIA+ supporters and community members gathered in the Russell Union on Georgia Southern’s Statesboro campus and in the Student Union on the Armstrong Campus Monday afternoon for a scheduled sit-in. The sit-in was organized by students, in collaboration including BoroPride in Statesboro, First City Pride Center in Savannah, and GSU’s Students with Disabilities Advocacy.
President Kyle Marrero addressed the allegations that the University is allegedly removing LGBTQIA+ resources, and altering LGBTQIA+ focused events, and other supportive programs without notifying students, faculty, and staff. Georgia Southern’s highly anticipated “Celebrate Together” event will take the Armstrong campus by storm on October 20 for the second year in a row, where several hundred faculty members and students will enjoy numerous activities and several dozen booths.
