India has revoked a patent for a potato variety grown exclusively for PepsiCo Inc's popular Lay's potato chips, according to an order issued on Friday.
The Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers Rights (PPVFR) Authority on Friday revoked the registration the multinational company had. Even at the global level, this is the first time that the multinational had to face such a defeat.
