was riding his bike to work. a former friend of the suspect told the local station that he may have had a hit list and that the cardiologist was number 1 on it. the police talked about this hit list. jonathan hunt has the rest of the details. john? shep, good afternoon. there s been a statewide alert for the suspect for two weeks. an employee with houston parks spotted joseph james pappas and called 911. police moved in and after a short chase, they had pappas cornered. he was wearing body armor and was armed. a second police cruiser arrived. pappas apparently shot himself in the head. that brought to an end the man hunt that began with the murder of dr. mark hausknecht on july 20th. take a look at this security camera footage from a houston bus on that day. it show it s police tailing
