correspondent miguel almaguear. police ordering everyone keep your heand up and heads down. i ll take a bullet before you will, believe me. it took police four terrifying minutes to arrive. as officers poured into the building, word came out, many were dead and even more were wounded. we have several down in the conference room. self down. it just a moment that makes you not want to take life for granted. it s just it was horrific. melinda revis was in the building. she heard the gunfire, witnessed the terror. people in a frantic panic all over the place, screaming and
the horror from across that country. one witness described the moments as the tsunami slammed into the coast after the quake. he said you could hear the screams of women and children everywhere. and then he s described it, a tremendous silence. among the victims, 40 retirees who scrambled for higher ground as the waves hit. they made it to their bus but the waves dragged away that vehicle and most of the bodies are still unaccounted for. [shouting] shepard: chile s president says 14,000 soldiers and marines are deployed up and down the nation to help with security and deal with looters in the aftermath of the quake. some of the worse trouble has been here in chile s second biggest city concepcion where looters have ransacked just about every store. this video shows women or shows police ordering women from a supermarket. some of those women leaving in tears explaining, look, we re just trying to get diapers for our children. as you can see police did not arrest them.
