A man is dead after being shot and killed by a Parkersburg police officer Sunday afternoon at Oakwood Village apartments. Parkersburg Police Chief Joe Martin said the officer fired at Rufus Ramsey III, 34, of Parkersburg, after Ramsey allegedly rushed at the officer with a meat cleaver. Martin says Ramsey had previously stabbed a female neighbor at the apartment complex with the weapon. She is hospitalized. Martin said the investigation has been turned over to state police. Chief Martin told the Parkersburg News and Sentinel newspaper Sunday it appears the officer followed proper procedure. ....
[email protected] PARKERSBURG A Parkersburg man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly stabbing his ex-wife while they were traveling on Murdoch Avenue. According to a criminal complaint provided by the Parkersburg Police Department, Stefin Richard Pappas, 49, of 1216 23rd St., Parkersburg, was arrested in the 800 block of 32nd Street and charged with malicious wounding. The complaint said Pappas was a passenger in a car driven by the woman, traveling south on Murdoch Avenue. During an argument, he allegedly threatened to kill her if she did not return money to him. The victim said she stopped the car in the center turning lane in the 3400 block of Murdoch after Pappas punched her in the face. As she tried to exit the car, she felt a sting in her right abdomen. When she touched the area, her hand was covered in blood. ....
