Pamplin Media Group - 1971: Committee gives school board recommendations

Increased activity in cougar hunting is being evidenced by the number of pelts being sent into the Game Commission office for collection of the $50 bounty. This week Roy Tracy of Estacada brought in five cougars, one of them measuring nine feet two inches in length, while John B. Savage of Lebanon presented bounty on three yearlings and one adult. One of the yearlings had a natural bobtail, which is the first freak of its kind coming under the observation of the game department. 50 years ago February 25, 1971After two sessions, the Crook County School District Impasse Committee formulated its recommendations to the school board. The committee agreed on a salary base of $7,050 with $250 increments. For most teachers the increase would mean a $500 raise; 41 teachers who are at the top of the salary schedule would receive a $250 raise with no increment. Last year s base salary was $6,800. The committee also recommends a $250 increase in the base for all administrative personnel.
