Mt. Pleasant city commissioners are looking into entering into a contract with a new trash pickup provider that will let residents ditch the "bag/tag" system.

After a lengthy discussion during a work session Monday night, commissioners are a step closer to incorporating natural landscaping into the city's lawn and weed ordinance, asking City Manager Aaron Desentz to bring back definitions of "natural landscape," "cultivation" and "noxious weeds" before moving forward with amending the city's current policy.
A zoning amendment approved Monday by the Mt. Pleasant City Commission will allow for transitional housing, including a potential permanent homeless shelter.
