City mayor finds hope and progress in pandemic year

Article content 2020 brought with it a global pandemic, but, even as the City of Wetaskiwin Council and Administration worked at keeping people safe, helping businesses stay afloat and run the City, there were moments of hope and progress. During his annual State of the City address at the March 11 Leduc and Wetaskiwin Regional Chamber of Commerce meeting, held virtually, Wetaskiwin Mayor Tyler Gandam took participants for a walk down Memory Lane. City receives OTIS awad

Article content Wetaskiwin Mayor Tyler Gandam shows the OTIS award that was presented to The City of Wetaskiwin by the Battleriver Watershed Alliance for its municipal sustainability. The OTIS Award recognizes organizations, businesses, and individuals in the Battle River and Sounding Creek Watersheds who are outstanding in stewardship. The City was recognized for the low impact development utilized when reconstructing Main Street, the bioswails used in different locations within the City, and for the Plastic Checkout Bag Ban Bylaw.
