And his gun control group. they were postmarked in louisiana. the threatening letters tested positive for the poison ricin. here s abc s senior justice correspondent pierre thomas. where someone who hates mayor michael bloomberg and his stance on gun control has sent him letters laceded with the deadly poison ricin. ricin can be deadly if inhaled or ingested. two letters were sent. one was detected in the new york mail facility. another letter was sent to washington, to an office associated with mayors against illegal guns. the letter threatened bloomberg and referenced the gun control debate. bloomberg has called for background checks and a ban on assault rifles. the mayor reacting. in terms of why they ve done it, i don t know. the letters obviously referred to our anti-gun efforts, but there s 12,000 people that are going to get killed this year with guns, and 19,000 are going to commit suicide with guns, and we re not going to walk away from those efforts.
