The job fair was founded in honor of 20-year-old Mark Gould who was shot and killed at Pineview Apartments in 2018. That s one of the reasons there s a huge community support, Moye said. It was birthed out of the community s need for jobs. Talking to school board members, talking to elected officials, the reason everyone is supportive of this job fair is because when people have a job, the kids perform better in school. At least they go to school.
And, he believes, it helps keep crime down. We ve seen the real benefits of this job fair, Moye said.

Waterloo Police Investigating Apparent Murder-Suicide
Police are investigating a possible murder-suicide that happened in Waterloo over the weekend.
Officials were dispatched to the Pineview Apartment Homes, 3870 Pineview Place, to investigation a report of a shooting on late Saturday. When they arrived just after 11 PM, police found a female inside the apartment with at least one gunshot wound. Authorities said she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said they were able to identify a suspect in the fatal shooting, based on witness statements. Following a search, they located the man a few hours later on the other side of the city.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Hattiesburg police are investigating after a person was injured in a Hub City shooting Wednesday evening.
Hattiesburg Police Department spokesman Ryan Moore said an area hospital alerted police around 6:45 p.m. after the patient arrived seeking treatment for a gunshot wound.
Officers learned the shooting occurred at the Pineview Apartments at 1500 Country Club and are on scene.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - A Hattiesburg man turned himself in to police following a shooting at an apartment complex that left one person injured Wednesday afternoon.
According to Hattiesburg Police Department public information officer Ryan Moore, 25-year-old Johnnie Williams, of Hattiesburg, turned himself in to authorities just before 10 p.m. Wednesday.
HPD learned that the shooting took place at Pineview Apartments at 1500 Country Club Road after being alerted by a local hospital that the 42-year-old victim arrived to be treated for a gunshot wound.
