depression and acceptance. donna a while ago said i don t want to accept anything because it means we ll lose the country. i think a lot of people may feel that way. that that is acceptance. let me show you what real acceptance is. spring, 2005. captain scotty smiley, he is leading a combat brigade in northern iraq. they were looking for car bombers. his platoon rolled up next to a nervous-looking man in a suspicious looking car. last thing captain smiley saw was that man s face with his hands in the air. that s when he set off a massive bomb sending shrapnel through captain smiley s eyes and into his brain, leaving him completely blind and partially paralyzed. the suicide bomber took his sight. but he didn t live. he didn t live. i m not sure if captain smiley wanted to live at the time himself. he is here to share a remarkable story. the army s first blind active

glenn: let me show you a community that has been under pressure lately and they refuse to forget real things to be thankful for. family, god and country. this is plymouth, massachusetts, every year they hold the america home township thanksgiving celebration hometown thanksgiving celebration. they don t have corporate sponsorship. this is just a core group of organizers and volunteers who raise money. the theme is personal and private charity. we spoke to the executive director of the parade, ollie davidsido and pastor daily, the parade historian about the parade. watch. we try to depict the story of thanksgiving and history of america in a parade and tell the story that i think is important to history.

here is a town that just got its butt whooped. 7,500 jobs lost in a town of 12,000. they re not out. they started prayer centers. they re out working. they re doing everything they can. this town gives me hope. they re not sitting back. they accepted. yep, d.h.l. is gone, we lost the jobs. roll up your sleeves. now what? that is the story. i ve got somebody i want you to meet next that you may never have heard of. you want to talk about somebody getting their butt whooped. going through all of these stages and then saying really? i want to introduce you to him and his wife. next.
