Villahermosa SAIPAN, CNMI (Marianas Variety, June 11, 2015) – Attorney General Edward Manibusan says the bill introduced by Senate Floor Leader Arnold I. Palacios cannot prevent the U.S. military from taking the land it desires through eminent domain the right of a government or its agent to expropriate private property for public use, with payment of compensation. Palacios’s Senate Bill 19-42 proposes to prohibit the Department of Public Lands from leasing any public land for military live-fire or bombing activity.

Tenorio says he is proud to announce that the CNMI is a step closer to being granted eligibility for Department of Defense funds to support the Guam military buildup, a media release stated. The U.S. House of Representative voted on Thursday evening to approve the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2009, or H.R. 5658. This is a major accomplishment, and I am very thankful to Guam Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo for her assistance in achieving this reality, Tenorio said.
