Nearly 2,500 people died in the province in 2020, according to a report from the Office of the Chief Coroner, an increase of 60 per cent compared to 2019. Rural areas such as Huron and Perth counties aren’t immune to the problem; eight people died in the region last year, seven more than in 2019.
