Several Memorial Day ceremonies will take place throughout Marion County this week and weekend. On Friday, a flag-raising ceremony and memorial tribute. will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville at 7:00 a.m.
The American Legion Van Veen-Van Hemert Post 89 will hold a Memorial Day Service on Sunday at 2:00pm in the Memorial Building in Pella. The guest speaker will be State Representative Dustin Hite.
There will be a Memorial Day service on Monday, May 31st at Peoria Cemetery at 9:00a.m. The speaker will be Rev. Mike Shover.
Bellefontaine Cemetery in Tracy will host a service at 10:00 a.m. Monday, also with guest speaker Dustin Hite.
Donald Van Der Hart, age 68, of Peoria passed away Saturday. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 am at Hillside Bible Church in Oskaloosa. Luncheon will follow the funeral service on Saturday at Hillside Bible Church. Committal service with military honors will take place at Peoria Cemetery on Saturday at 2:00 pm. Visitation with family present will be on Friday from 4:30 to 7:00 pm at Van Dyk- Duven Funeral Home in Pella. Memorial contributions are preferred for the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella or Gideons International. Van Dyk- Duven Funeral Home in Pella is in charge of the arrangements.
