World Environment Day: Reimagine, Recreate, Restore

by Born Free USA in GNRII on June 04, 2021 Born Free USA joins the UN Environmental Programme (UNEP) in celebrating World Environment Day 2021 on Saturday, June 5. This year’s World Environment Day theme is “Ecosystem Restoration” and the UN will use the opportunity to launch the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Born Free USA supports World Environment Day 2021’s theme of “Ecosystem Restoration” because it is a guiding principle for Born Free’s Global Nature Recovery Investment Initiative (GNRII). Will Travers, co-Founder and Executive President of Born Free Foundation in the UK, says, “The prime objective of the GNRII is to make sure nature is heard, valued, recognized, prioritized, and loved as it should be. Through this initiative, we aim to amplify the knowledge and science that lays out how we need to change to ensure nature can recover fully. The priorities of our natural world must be what drives our economic growth.”

Indigenous women call upon Biden to stop pipelines and uphold Indigenous rights in the wake of escalating climate chaos and Covid-19 crises

Indigenous women call upon Biden to stop pipelines and uphold Indigenous rights in the wake of escalating climate chaos and Covid-19 crises “No more broken promises, no more broken Treaties.” Today over 75 Indigenous women leaders from across the country impacted by fossil fuel extraction and pipeline infrastructure sent a letter to the incoming Administration calling on President-elect Biden to immediately take five executive actions to halt the Keystone XL, Dakota Access, and Line 3 pipeline projects. These executive actions will uphold Indigenous rights, align the Biden Administration with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement, and keep fossil fuels in the ground.
