Dozens, perhaps scores, of people activists, bloggers, and others have gone missing in one southern Ukrainian region since Russian forces moved in and occupied the capital. Locals fear the worst and fear it’s only going to get worse.
The southern Ukrainian town of Oleshky was seized by Russian forces on the first day of Moscow’s invasion. The town’s mayor tells RFE/RL that “the situation has stabilized,” but he anticipates shortages of medicine and gasoline in the next few days.
Speaking to Current Time on March 7, Kherson resident Pavlo Keba described the dire conditions in the Ukrainian city occupied by Russian forces. He said that the humanitarian situation is becoming critical because, in his words: "There is no food supplied to the city."
