LED lights installed to help improve safety at a danger crossing in West Swindon have sparked complaints. A resident living near the zebra crossing in Hay Lane – where a teenager suffered terrible injuries after being hit by a car in 2016 – says the ultra-bright bulbs are shining into their property. West Swindon parish councillors discussed the issue during a planning and environment committee meeting earlier this week. The borough’s highways team told the parish council to allow the vegetation along the side of the road to grow slightly higher in order to block the light. But during the meeting, the committee agreed that it was not a sustainable solution. 

Houston Man Charged for Smuggling More Than 100 Illegal Immigrants

A 32-year-old Houston man has been charged with conspiracy to transport illegal immigrants, according to an announcement made by U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Patrick. A Laredo grand jury returned an indictment on Tuesday against defendant Brodrick Keith Rhodes, who was originally charged by criminal complaint. According to an LMT Online report, Rhodes is set to appear before a U.S. magistrate judge soon. Authorities stopped Rhodes after he approached the Free Border Patrol checkpoint in San Diego, Texas, in January as he drove a semi-truck and refrigerated trailer. He claimed that he was hauling lettuce and produced a bill of lading, as stated under the complaint.However, the law enforcement allegedly noticed discrepancies, and Rhodes appeared to be nervous.

Patrick. On Oct. 20, 2020, Rodrigo Sanchez approached the I-35 Border Patrol checkpoint driving a refrigerated box truck with “JJ Produce” on the side. Soon after, a K-9 alerted to the presence of contraband in the cargo area. Authorities opened the back of the truck and discovered 37 immigrants, including an unaccompanied minor, concealed behind a false wall blocked by stacks of produce.
