CKCU: First new album from T.S. Monk in 20 years; Les Filles de Illighadad live in concert; Andrew Paul Macdonald with his quintet for electric guitar and more! - David Dalle

Today we will hear the recording of Les Filles de Illighadad live in concert at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn in 2019. A fantastic set which makes me thrilled to see them here in Ottawa next Wednesday at the Jazz festival! https://ottawajazzfestival.com/artists/les-filles-de-illighadad/ However, for the first set, we will start with some Jazz from another live album from drummer T.S Monk who leads a sextet with Helen Sung piano, Willie Williams tenor sax, Patience Higgins alto sax, Josh Evans trumpet, and Kenny Davis on bass. Being the only son of Thelonious Monk, he had a very musical upbringing, and having decided on drums at the age of 15, his father made a call to Ark Blakey to ask for a set of drums and another call to Max Roach to tell him he was "sending the kid over for lessons".
