David Raymond Bishop, 79, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada, following a brief illness. David was born Jan. 29, 1942, in Nevada, to Durward Divine and Velma Addie (Tennison) Bishop. On May 3, 1968, he was united in marriage to Sue Mease in Lebanon, Mo., and she survives of the home.
David was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1960. He attended Drury College in Springfield for two years before joining the United States Navy in 1962. David served during the Vietnam Conflict as an electrician stationed in Subic Bay, Philippines, and later aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. Following his honorable discharge in 1966, David served an additional two years in the U.S .Naval Reserves. Upon his return to Missouri, he moved to Springfield and worked at Millers Mutual Insurance in Springfield for several years then began employment at AVCO Finance in Springfield. Walter Lee Cochran, 76, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at his home in Nevada, Mo. He was born on Sept. 3, 1944, in Carthage, Mo., to the Rev. Floyd and Ida Mae (Michael) Cochran. On Aug. 26, 1967, he married Gail Dianne Loafman, in Carthage, and she survives of the home.
Walter was raised in Carthage and graduated from Carthage High School in 1962. He received a two year degree from Missouri Southern College and then received an Education Specialist degree from Pittsburg State University. He taught at Webb City High School for a time and in 1981 he moved to Garnett, Kan., where he was Assistant Principal and later becoming Principal at Garnett High School. Walter came to Nevada in 1983 where he was Assistant Principal at the high school. He later taught in the At Risk Program in Nevada from 1993 until his retirement in 1999.
