As the report indicates, journalists around the world are encountering censorship, harassment, violence every day just for doing their jobs. And every reason of the world, tyrants are increasing their grip on the press, trying to prevent reporters from holding the powerful to account. This years index highlights a particularly disturbing trend in the americas, many countries have seen declines in the press freedom rankings, including the United States.
