Delhi University has come up with a special plan for students in their last year who are part of the Republic Day parade. These students, who are busy with parade preparations, will get a chance to take any exams they might miss. The university is also thinking about giving this chance to students who represent the university in sports like the Olympics.
But as we have been seeing the pictures of some of the parade preparations, you re going to get a lot of reference to 1945. and i think the president is going to link that and say the grandparents accomplished back in 1945 is what these brave, young people, especially men, are accomplishing for russia right now. it really is if there s any emotional link for every russian regardless of where they are on the political spectrum it is what happened in 1945 because 27 million people died on that side, on the russian/soviet side. so everybody has a relative. and this is very resonate. the president is using, some would say, exploiting those emotions to build support for what he is doing now. and that, of course, we will be seeing will be in red square this morning.
They have a command center up and running around the clock as parade preparations are underway. the police commissioner and mayor a short time ago held a news conference saying there are no specific threats. the police commissioner going to be attending the parade along with thousands and thousands of police officers for this crowd that is expected to come close to about 3 million people expected to be in manhattan tomorrow to take part in this parade. and the nypd deploying all anti-terror units, helicopters in the air, extra cameras. both at the federal level, at the local level, massive show of force both out on the streets and also what we won t see which is behind the scenes the intelligence gathering, the constant monitoring of any possible threats but as of now police and fbi officials telling us there is no specific threats. there have been a couple of leads that have been run down in new york and washington but we are told federal and local investigators track those down
