Team Fiji women’s rugby 7s side is working to create a balance between the leaders in the group, senior players and newcomers in a bid to get the right combinations for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
The Team Fiji women’s rugby 7s team is in Pool B with Canada, France and Brazil.
The side faced a tough challenge on day one of action on July 29 taking on France at 12pm and then Canada at 7.30pm.
Both France and Canada are ranked higher than Fiji and are highly tipped to book their spots in the quarter-finals.

The PacificAus Sports Oceania 7s tournament has laid the right platform for the Team Fiji men’s rugby 7s quest to defend the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
The side won the Oceania 7s title after winning all their games against New Zealand, Australia and the Oceania Barbarians.
Team Fiji men’s 7s rugby coach Gareth Baber said playing Australia and New Zealand on the first day of the Oceania 7s was good preparation going into the Olympic Games.
Baber said they needed to repeat consistency and be able to hit the high performance levels regardless of what the opposition brought with them.
