Hello, everyone, thank you for joining me. Im fredricka whitfield. There is a new town of talks between striking auto workers and representatives from two of the big three carmakers. The strike is now entering the third full day. Todays talks are expected to be with ford and General Motors. The uaw said it had, quoting now, reasonably productive talks end quote, when it met with ford yesterday. And for the first time ever, workers are striking at plants from gm, ford and stellantis all at the same time. Workers want big pay raises and other benefits after years of concessions during rough times for the industry. The carmakers say despite big profits in recent years, the raises being demanded would drive them out of business. Cnns Vanessa Yurkevich is at a ford plant in wayne, michigan. Case, it seems like small p potatoes stuff. the idea that you ll build a case around not paying taxes on a company car or other sorts of benefits, the trump lawyers, i think, have a point. if that s the case, that s usually handled civilly. we ll have to see if there s more to this case than an ordinary civil zpoit dispute. what would that point get them with the judge? again, it would depend a lot on the kind of evidence that s presented. how much money is involved, knowing violation, good faith mistake about how to account for taxable income. it is worth remembering that, you know, when people talk about the trump investigation, they have been talking about money
M no, i changed it. talking about texas open rick perry. rick perry, isn t he casting a shadow over this entire iowa episode? yeah, he certainly is. as you know he is going to basically head to new hampshire right after that straw poll which i think his hope is that he s going to steal the media attention, and i think he ll certainly do that. there s a lot of journalists willing to follow him wherever he goes to see how he plays out in those initial few days. but i think really you guys talked about this before that his first days can t be his best days. i wouldn t put too much focus on exactly what s going to happen with rick perry this weekend, but in the week or two afterwards to see how the nation responds, what kind of stuff reporters dig up. that s really where the meat and p potatoes will happen. and we also hear that sarah palin may be making a trip to iowa this weekend. she is making a decision maybe. riding a bus. riding a bus and perry will be in iowa on tuesday
