The second edition of Oxford International’s Student Global Mobility Index (SGMI) report stated that 45 percent of students cited the quality of education and 42 percent highlighted the reputation of universities as significant motivating factors for those aspiring to pursue higher education in the USA.
Nearly 50% of the Indian students surveyed cited better career opportunities as the top motivational factor to study abroad, while 42% cited cultural experience and 41% cited development of language skills as leading motivational factors. About 50% of Indian students stated ‘Cost of Living and 35% of Indian students stated ‘High tuition fees as the biggest barriers for pursuing higher education overseas, according to the Oxford International s Student Global Mobility Index (SGMI).
