Crowds gathered to see the Queen arrive for Royal Maundy service

The Very Rev Christopher Lewis Dean with Rt Rev John Pritchard Bishop of Oxford In her 26th year as warden at the village’s St Andrew’s Church, Mrs Harris received the Maundy money in recognition of her service to the church and the community. During the service, the Queen walked around the cathedral, assisted by the Yeomen of the Guard, to hand out the coins to Maundy recipients from Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. Mrs Harris, who attended the service with her husband Dennis, 82, curtsied before accepting two purses of coins, one red and one white. She added: “It’s been a wonderful day and I’m going to tell people at church all about it.”

Curate placed on furlough as he looks for new position );   ); A CURATE at St Mary’s Church in Wargrave has been furloughed for the next three months. Hugh Barne, who has been at the church since July 2017, will not be able to continue with ministry in the parish until after April 30. The Oxford Diocese has made the decision to furlough all paid curates in their fourth year of training. Mr Barne, who lives with his wife Grace and their one-year-old son Isaac, will still be allowed to continue with some of his training as he seeks a job with a new ministry.

Hugh Barne has been furloughed for three months A curate at a church near Reading has been furloughed for three months - after the Church of England warned staff might need to be cut amid falling numbers of worshippers.  The Oxford Diocese decided to furlough all paid curates who are in their fourth year of training, meaning Hugh Barne cannot continue ministry at St Mary s Church in Wargrave until after April 30.  Mr Barne, who lives with wife Grace and their one-year-old son Isaac, will still be able to train as he looks for another job with a new ministry. He had been at the Berkshire church since July 2017, the Henley Standard reports.
