Since saturday night police have made 147 arrests and that number is expected to rise. This is the scene in rotherham at the moment. In the south yorkshire in the north of england. As we can see, it is quieter than it has been but the emergency services still in evidence on the streets, hundreds of anti immigration protesters had earlier surrendered a hotel, the holiday inn express, some people lit a fire and smashed windows and doors and managed to get inside the building where asylum seekers have been staying. Police eventually surrounded the hotel. They were right control officers, they managed to push the crowds back, but as you can see from those pictures, there is still that presence and we are told that the scene remains tense in rotherham.
