Credit Jen Wright The board voted 4-1 to approve the contract hiring Robert Saxton until June 2022, for a period of 190 days for a salary of $150,000. During the special meeting, Saxton answered questions from board members about addressing equity in education, COVID concerns and diversity in staff and administration. Saxton said he believes equity is about making sure all students can access resources, and not taking resources away. “One of the most important things about equity when we’re trying to figure out how we’re gonna get equitable outcomes is to ask people what it is that they need in order to cause those things to happen,” Saxton said. “And when I say ask, I mean you have to ask everybody and listen really hard, in a way that they’re gonna understand and that you can appreciate.” ....
