Glasses-free, three-dimensional (3D) displays are promising technologies that will redefine the display industry. However, a few issues such as limited motion parallax, short range of viewing distance, vergence accommodation conflict, and self-repeating views hinder the widespread usage of 3D displays.
The Nobel Prize in Physics 2018 was awarded “for groundbreaking inventions in the field of laser physics” with one half to Arthur Ashkin “for the optical tweezers and their application to biological systems”, the other half jointly to Gérard Mourou and Donna Strickland “for their method of generating high-intensity, ultra-short optical pulses”
Published in the journal nanomaterials, a team of researchers has developed a small plasmonic pressure sensor that could help to advance nanophotonic devices.
Needle-free blood tests, cosmic lightning, super-vegetables, and nano-ghosts are just a few of the innovative experiments Eytan Stibbe will test during his February mission to the International Space Station
