China suspected of hacking Western Australia's parliamentary email network in latest cyber-attack


Chinese hackers are suspected of breaking their way into Western Australia s parliamentary email network as part of a global cyber-attack.
The online attack, which involved Microsoft software, was detected in the middle of the state election campaign on March 4.
Premier Mark McGowan claimed a landslide victory in the Western Australian election over the weekend, with Opposition Leader Zak Kirkup formally conceding defeat about two hours after polls closed. 
A warning text from the Department of Parliamentary Services was sent to WA politicians in the wake of the email hacking, ABC reported.

After a Liberal party wipe-out, WA s Lower House will end up with more female MPs elected in 2021 than the total number of Liberal women, 25, to have ever sat in the WA Parliament.

Western Australia Liberals 'go woke, go broke'

The Outsiders have applied the ‘go woke go broke’ slogan to the Liberal party during the WA election describing the outcome as predictable but a disaster nonetheless.

‘We predicted it would be a disaster,” Sky News host Rowan Dean said.

Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan has been elected for another four years after being returned to power in a landslide win for the Labor Party at Saturday's state election.

A huge 52 seats were picked up by the incumbent Labor government, the Liberals holding just two seats, leaving questions about who will be the next opposition leader.

Sky News host Rita Panahi said Opposition Leader Zak Kirkup was the first Australian leader of a major political party in 88 year years to lose his own seat at an election.

“This is what happens when you adopt the policies of the left when you are supposed to be a centre-right parties,” she said.

WA election a contest of 'experience versus inexperience': McGowan

Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan says today's state election is a contest of "experience versus inexperience", labelling Opposition Leader Zak Kirkup "risky".

"Our opponents are risky and inexperienced. They are not ready for government. We saw that yesterday with their costings announcement. They haven't done the work that's needed," he said.

The Premier comfortably leads Mr Kirkup in the latest Newspoll, 79 per cent to 13 per cent on better premier, and enjoys an 88 per cent approval rating.
