latest. where do things stand today? reporter: brianna, the airport is trying to get back to normal. they had the temporary ground stop on saturday after the incident, there was so much confusion and chaos, people figuring out what was going on. today trying to get back to normal because of course, we re right before a major holiday. let s rerun to go back to saturday afternoon, and what was supposed to be a typical weekend right before the thanksgiving holiday, and police say it was 42-year-old kenny wells who came into a tsa security checkpoint with a firearm in his bag and it was flagged through the x-ray machine. police say he lunged for his bag, grabbing the gun, when it discharged. people thought they were in the middle of an active shooter situation and that spread quickly throughout the airport and on social media. people fleeing as you mentioned, trying to get away, thinking they were running for their lives and the idea that this was an active shooter, that rumor spread muc
individual as we speak, and, of course, once we ve conduct our investigation here at the airport we were able to give the all clear and returned back to normal operations. and we re being told by authorities that kenny was able to get away, 42-year-old kenny wells, during all of the confusion, that he ran out of the airport. but, remember, this airport, the busiest one in the nation, the second busiest in the world has some 3,000 security cameras, and that is part of the reason why they were able to at least identify who he was. there s still some questions though. how did he get away and how was he not apprehended sooner, and that we re still trying to work on more details right now. fred? all right. let s talk about all those questions a little further. nadia romero, thank you, so much. with our next guest, cnn transportation analyst and former inspector general for the u.s. department of transportation mand reporter
