The ones that go up all the time and barely ever go down on rare occasion when theres a marketwide pullback like we had this morning s p edging up, nasdaq gaining 3. 7 from a very ugly opening. You have to buy these up stocks. Buy, buy, buy, buy, buy hanover fist. In a market like this one that has a hard time staying down to begin with, even with a weak jobs number or a president that seems determined to overturn the election, hes not going anywhere, the up stocks just wont quit back at my hedge fund where i compounded 14 for 14 years id sit down with my staff and say, okay, give me your best stocks, the up stocks, the ones that never seem to go down. I want the unstoppable ones. I dont even want to know what they do, i just want them the staff would be incredulous there would always be a young whipper snapper saying, whats an up stock . Thats not our usual methodology. I adopted a no more mr. Nice guy attitude, like id ever been nice so i just demanded they give me their up stocks or ....
Terminology and the wall street gibberish that makes the whole process seem really impenetrable there is an entire industry of people earn their living by doing the opposite of that they want you convinced that investing is too hard, that regular people just cant do it. The safest thing is to give your money to a professional or stick it in an index fund. The truth is thats the right call for many of you and everyone should have some index fund exposure. I believe you can manage some of the money as well as the pros. The truth is many of the professionals really say theyre focused on getting your fees theyre more interested in taking your money than making you money. And thats a lot easier if they can keep you ignorant about the market theyre kind of like the the wizard of oz. They dont want you peeking at the man behind the curtain they dont want you to understand, because maybe if you did, youd take control of your finances, pick your own stocks and not pay someone else potentially e ....
You need to balance in order to be a great investor. It can be hard to keep track of everything that you need to do a lot of this is more important than daytoday action without the right discipline or frame work and the right, dare i say philosophy youll get yourself into trouble but big picture Financial Advice can be hard to process. A lot of it seems down right contradictory to most people we tell you to stick with the companies that you believe in and then we say change your mind on a dime when the facts change. You need to be cautious because its so dangerous out there but you also need to be ready to pounce at opportunities when they present themselves. You need to be skeptical but you also need to know when to suspend your belief. Your disbelief you need to avoid chasing stocks that have run too much but you also shouldnt care too much where a stock is coming from if you believe its headed higher you know the rules it doe ....
In other words no matter how much you may hoff a stock, no matter how entrald with the Underlying Company if the rules say sell it, sell, sell, sell, sell you sell it. One thing i learned in the investing career no matter you might be believe in something you violate the rules of the road at your peril but where the heck do the rules come from . Its not like they were handed down from on high and carved into sfoen tablets theyre not the laws the physics. You cant dedues from observing the market the way you can do say gravity.
