Ohio businesses join to create water policy organization

Ohio businesses join to create water policy organization Lake Erie A coalition of Ohio companies, business trade groups and nonprofits announced the launch of an advocacy organization created to improve water quality policy in the state. The Ohio Water Partnership comprises large and small business organizations that recognize clean, safe and affordable water is a competitive advantage for the state s business climate, according to a statement from the group. Coalition members discussed their goals during a news conference on Tuesday, April 20, at the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Columbus. There have been a lot of great efforts to focus on water quality here in the state of Ohio, said Jim Samuel, executive director of the Ohio Water Partnership. But at the end of the day, there was not a long-standing organization there to focus on it from a business standpoint.

MWCD supporting wastewater projects with $5 million investment

MWCD supporting wastewater projects with $5 million investment Staff Report NEW PHILADELPHIA - The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District  is partnering with the Ohio Water Development Authority to invest $5 million into projects across the MWCD region to improve community wastewater treatment.   “This new program builds on the current commitments to invest in the vitality of our parks, marinas and communities. Having excellent water quality is imperative when attracting millions of visitors to our parks, lakes and marinas annually,” said MWCD Executive Director Craig Butler in a press release.  It s estimated Ohio has more than $14 billion in wastewater improvement needs with small communities accounting for more than $1.5 billion. This is despite having programs that have already invested billions of dollars to build, enhance and replace critical infrastructure, the release stated.
