Easter: Oba of Benin, Obaseki, others preach peace in Edo

BENIN CITY – THE Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, Governor Godwin Obaseki,Edo state chapters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in their separate Easter messages preached peace and enjoined Christians to use the celebration to emulate the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Obaseki, in his Easter message, urged the Christian community to emulate Jesus Christ by making sacrifices that would advance the cause of development and reflect on the purpose of Easter and redemption of our nation.
APC flays Obaseki for shifting 100-day anniversary to Delta

THE Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has slammed Governor Godwin Obaseki for marking his 100 days in office in neighbouring Delta State.
In a statement by the Assistant State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Ofure Osehobo, the Chairman of the party’s Caretaker Committee, Col. David Imuse (retd.), said Obaseki inaugurated white elephant projects on behalf of another state governor, saying he had lost focus.
The statement quoted Imuse as saying, “It should interest the PDP and Mr Obaseki that by pretending to forget that the governor has clocked 100 days in office as a sole administrator and gone ahead on a wild goose chase to a neighbouring state, he has declared the PDP government in Edo State, which he heads to be ineffective and incapable of improving the lives of Edo people, going forward.”

Benin, Feb. 23, 2021 Chairman, Caretaker Committee of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo, Col. David Imusa (retd.), has called on all intending members to seize the opportunity of the new deadline for membership registration to join the party.
The chairman made the call on Monday in Benin in a statement issued by the Assistant State Publicity Secretary of the party, Ofure Osehobo.
Imusa noted that the extension was in response to the demands across the state for more time to accommodate all prospective members
He lauded the decision of the party’s National Caretaker Committee for the five-week extension.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Edo state, has accused Governor Godwin Obaseki, of attempting to deprive the 2020 generation of Primary 5 and 6 pupils of their first school leaving certificates, by canceling the first school leaving certificate examination in the state.

Edo state government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday engaged in a war of words over the handling of the second wave of Covid-19 by the state government.
State chairman of the APC, Col David Imuse (rtd) in a statement through the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the party, Ofure Osehobo said at a time there is an increasingly alarming number of COVID19 cases, with many dying, there is alleged infighting between the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and the Governor Godwin Obaseki administration which he said was affecting the check on the spread of the virus.
He said “Our party finds it ludicrous that in the face of the deadly second wave of the coronavirus, the PDP and the Governor in Edo are engaged in such a deadly fight.
