Author: Josslyn Howard Updated: 4:57 PM EST March 11, 2021 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. A man charged with the attempted murder of a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officer Monday may be connected to more than a half-dozen robberies, JSO said Tuesday. JSO Director of Investigations Mike Bruno said back-to-back robberies Monday are just two of at least six robberies 40-year-old Luis Rodriguez has been involved in. “Between March 2 and March 8 there were more than a half-dozen robberies to businesses,” Bruno said. “Our detectives noticed a pattern that was occurring in these robberies.”

Suspects identified in Jacksonville officer-involved shooting

It took only a handful of seconds for a gun battle between a Jacksonville police officer and suspect to occur Monday afternoon in the 1000 block of Line Street, the Sheriff s Office s director said. When the gunfire stopped, amazingly neither Officer Joseph Ledyard or the gunman now identified as Luis Alberto Ceballos Rodriguez had been hit by the fusillade that lasted three seconds, Director Mike Bruno said. But as Rodriguez fled the scene, multiple bullet holes were left behind, piercing the driver s window and fenders of the police cruiser Ledyard had just exited with gun drawn. Within just a handful of seconds, the driver begins shooting at our officer. The officer is able to return fire while taking cover, Bruno said. . For someone to have total disregard for the officer and what he is trying to do and everyone else in that community, it should outrage the community. It s senseless.
