It was Chicago's highest scoring game of the season. The last-place Blackhawks improved to 3-13-3 in their last 19 games, including a 5-2 win at the Coyotes on Tuesday.

Sidney Crosby scored twice, Reilly Smith and Bryan Rust added goals, and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 on Thursday night to snap a three-game losing streak. The Penguins had lost to Minnesota, Winnipeg and Florida in succession, but controlled their third road game in four starts from the outset. With the victory, Pittsburgh moved past Washington and into sixth place in the Metropolitan Division.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 19 saves for his second consecutive shutout and the Buffalo Sabres beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-0 on Thursday night in a game moved back a day because of snow. Zemgus Girgensons, JJ Peterka and Rasmus Dahlin scored. Luukkonen had his third career NHL shutout, also beating San Jose 3-0 on Monday.
Gustav Nyquist and Ryan O’Reilly each had a goal and an assist, Juuse Saros made 21 saves and the Nashville Predators beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-0 on Tuesday night. Luke Evangelista also scored for Nashville, which has won two straight and improved to 3-0 against Chicago this season. The Predators led 1-0 for most of the game before O'Reilly's goal in the waning minutes of the third period.
