A CONTROVERSIAL road closure, which has left residents cut off from their village, has sparked calls for compensation. Tey Road, in Earls Colne, was closed at its junction with the A1124 Lower Holt Street back on March 22. The road, connecting it to the rest of the village is closed while water and sewerage work is carried out for a new 23-home housing development. During the closure, residents on the Lowefields estate, off Tey Road, say they have been left stranded. The only route out of the village for them is a diversion route down a single-track lane. But residents say the diversion is unsuitable, with deep potholes being made worse by HGVs using the road to access the Tey Road building site.
